To Try Men’s Souls by Newt Gingrich and William Forstchen

In the Introduction of the book Newt writes that this is a part of history, a miracle if you will that made America possible.  The miracle he is refering to is the Christmas Day campaign of 1776 and General George Washington.  This was a campaign of extraordinary heroism, improbable good fortune, and involving a series of events that led George Washington and others to conclude that the outcome was a miracle indicating Divine Providence was on their side.
